It's So Unfair: The Story of Yvette Cade

Quick story:
Yvette Cade went before Judge Richard Palumbo to have a restraining order against her husband extended. She said her husband was making threats against her and her family and had pictures showing her numerous bruises. The judge interrupted her and dismissed the order. Not only did he dismiss it, he talked down to her as if she was being ridiculous and told her to get a divorce.

Three weeks later, the husband walks into the place where she worked, doused her with gasoline, and set her on fire. She didn't die, but she suffered third degree burns on over 60% of her body.

Judge Richard Palumbo can't understand why people are pissed. He was reassigned and has a hearing scheduled for August. How is this man even getting a hearing? Not only did he ignore her request and berate her, he blamed the dismissal on a "clerical error". This lady came before him for help and he brushed her off and berated her. That just makes me sick.

And that's not all.
- He denies that he did anything wrong in that case.
- He's caused an accident in the past and tried to intimidate the witness. Of course, he got no citation for it.
- He's compared the women who came before him for restraining orders to buses that come every 10 minutes.

I'm not saying the blame for the psycho husband setting her on fire lies with the judge. It lies squarely on the @$$hole who did it. He could have done that with or without an order. He's been convicted of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault. I'm pro-death penalty, but in my opinion, the death penalty would be too good for him, unless they burn him at the stake.

It's So Unfair: Self-Publishing Part Dos

I uploaded the manuscript and had a copy printed for my approval. Honestly, I thought all I would have to do is proofread at this point. I get the book and the cover looks great! The title page is what I expected, and that's it. The rest of the book was horrible. Transferring my word document to do their format showed that that some of the font was different. I didn't catch it in the original document because it all looked the same. But now, some of it is small and some is HUGE. DARN IT!

Now, not only do I have to proofread, I have to try and catch everything that's a little quirky. Self-publishing is not going to be as easy as I thought.

Enough whining, I have editing to do. Is it too early for a beer?
